EPC: Energy Performance Certificate

From October 2008 all properties - homes, commercial and public buildings - when bought, sold, built or rented need an EPC. Larger public buildings also need to display an energy certifi.cate.

Energy Performance Certificates where introduced to help improve the energy efficiency of buildings.

A home's performance is rated in terms of the energy use per square metre of floor area, energy efficiency based on fuel costs and environmental impact based on carbon dioxide (CO2) emmissions.
